Ontario NDP and unions not just friends, Liberals claim

Liberals have dug up the old Ontario NDP Cornerstone controversy to shine a light on what they say is a too-cozy relationship the NDP has with unions.

Ontario Liberal campaign co-chair Deb Matthews says the NDP and unions are so intertwined that it raises serious questions about Leader Andrea Horwath’s ability to properly represent the public’s interest in labour negotiations.

”The NDP and Ontario’s largest unions are not just allies, they are partners, literally, they are business partners,” Matthews said Wednesday. “Bluntly said, the NDP is in no position to say no to these unions because they are in business together.”
