TAVIS: From saviours to ‘subjects of suspicion and scorn’

Members of the policing community are hopeful Ontario’s new Premier Doug Ford will help restore law and order — as well as common sense — after giving a nod given to cops in last week’s Throne speech.

In the speech — read by Lt.-Gov. Elizabeth Dowdeswell — the Tories vowed to free police from “onerous restrictions that treat those in uniform as subjects of suspicion and scorn.”

It’s not yet known what the PC Leader plans to do, but the choice of words suggests changes may be coming to the ridiculous carding regulations introduced by the previous Wynne government at the start of 2017.
