Elderly woman dead, another rushed to hospital in connected stabbing

An elderly woman is dead and another woman was sent to hospital in critical condition after an Etobicoke stabbing Saturday night, Toronto police say.

It happened around 6:37 p.m. when two separate 911 calls came in for unknown trouble. They found a woman — which media reports say was in her 80s — at a residence in the Dixon Rd. and Kipling Ave. area.

Update:
1 female victim was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries. Her condition has been upgraded to stable.
The 2nd female victim of the stabbing has been pronounced dead at the scene.
The male suspect is in custody. @TPSHomicide notified. ^adc

A second woman, believed to be 32 years ago by paramedics, was found in a nearby parking lot with multiple stab wounds. She has since been upgraded to stable condition, said Const. Allyson Douglas-Cook.

The elder victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cook said one man is in custody, but could not provide more details, other than the attacks are connected and there are no outstanding suspects.
