It was an order from God that motivated a Washington man to allegedly behead his girlfriend.
Timothy P. Hernandez of Mount Vernon, Wash. was charged with first-degree murder in relation to the death of his girlfriend, Vanessa Cons, 27. According to the Seattle Times, cops found the beheaded body of Cons Sunday afternoon.
Police say there were multiple stab wounds to the woman’s head and back.
Officers later located 32-year-old Hernandez at a Burlington, Wash. mall with his three-year-old daughter. When questioned by cops, the man reportedly quoted Bible verses, telling them he was carrying out God’s will.
“Each of the verses that were quoted had passages in them that spoke about women who did not follow God’s word, so God struck them down,” cops wrote in an arrest document, as reported by news outlet KIRO.
The man apparently told cops he had talked to God, who in turn told him to “strike down” Cons because “she did not repent.” Cops say Hernandez “struck down” on Cons, which caused “her head to be removed from her body.”
The accused reportedly told cops he wasn’t crazy, stating a crazy person would lie.
