What’s behind the sudden wave of anti-meat propaganda? “Follow the money…”

You can see the official narrative when it launches.

For years, no-one talked about transgenderism. There were drag queens, and transvestites, but it wasn’t a thing. In five years it’s gone from nothing to the Olympics.

Now I see another such narrative — anti-meat, anti-beef.

Vegetarianism was always fringe. There are vegetarians for religious reasons, I get it. And there may be some health reasons, for some people.

Then in the last few months, the narrative just hit.

You’d see it in weird, creepy stories. Like the United Nations, whose executives dine in five-star restaurants, telling the rest of us that we’ll have to start eating bugs, and liking it. I’m not making this up.

The Weather Network told us to stop eating beef:

If you really want to help save the planet, you could seriously consider limiting the amount of beef you eat.

That’s not news, and that’s not science. That’s propaganda.

Just today, we got this:

Environment Minister Catherine McKenna says the call to help combat climate change by eating more plants and less meat is fully in line with Canada’s new food guide recommendations.

I see that next month, McKenna is hosting a luxury fundraiser at Ottawa’s fanciest restaurant. I won’t call it just a steakhouse because they serve all sorts of meats.  The fundraiser is $250 to get in.

So, yeah, you little people — can you please give up your hamburgers, for the sake of the planet? But the ruling class will eat its steak. Catherine McKenna says it’s fine, so you can trust her.

Now, just look at what the trendy meat substitutes contain:

Here’s the National Post’s analysis, comparing a leading brand of fake meat, called Beyond Meat, to a real burger:

A 113-gram Beyond Meat patty has 250 calories, 18 grams of fat, 390 milligrams of sodium and 20 grams of protein. Health Canada says 113 grams of lean ground beef contain 292 calories, 16.5 grams of fat, 105 milligrams of sodium and 33 grams of protein.

So the fake meat has about the same number of calories. It actually has more fat. It has triple the salt — I’m not surprised. How else are you going to make proceeded vegetable protein taste palatable? And you’re only getting about half the protein.

It’s hyper-processed. There’s no way you can actually say those Beyond Meat patties are good for you.

So why is everyone from the UN to Catherine McKenna telling us not to eat meat anymore?
