LILLEY: City begs for more money while wasting your cash

It’s a bit rich for certain city councillors to complain the province is leaving Toronto high and dry, especially when those councillors voted to spend tens of millions — if not hundreds of millions a year — extra to protect union contracts.

Joe Cressy, the Ward 10 councillor and chair of the Toronto Board of Health is outraged that the province is going back to the long-standing way of funding public health programs, meaning cost sharing.

Mayor Tory said back in the spring the city could find savings given the time to do it. Now, through a spokesman, he says that the province should be paying more.
