The Trump administration on Tuesday rescinded an extensive set of guidelines put in place under President Barack Obama that had called on colleges and universities to consider race as a way of promoting diversity.
US Attorney General Jeff Sessions said the 24 documents many of which gave advice to schools on how to deal with Supreme Court decisions on race and admissions “were unnecessary, outdated, inconsistent with existing law, or otherwise improper.”
It has the effect of bringing the federal government’s position on affirmative action close to that of the George W. Bush administration which held that race could be considered only if a university had no other way of achieving a diverse student class.

College should be available only to those who score the best on their entrance exams and plan on studying useful fields of study.
Funny how liberals believe Affirmative Action and Racial Preferences are not racist.
The only way to integrate a society is educate and have them compete, AA and Quotas always piss off one group.
I worry about the level of indoctrination i my people, I know blacks who actually think Lincoln was a democrat.
I can’t tell you the number of times I have been called an Uncle Tom, I always laugh. It is actually the least offensive, though my favorite is I am a race apologist because I refuse to accept the shooting of black children by young black criminals as anything less than racism by the white man.
Over the years, I have spent time in Montana and Alaska, I saw many of the native populations with many of the same social ills as my people, I have never seen a white man force these bad habits on us.
Liberals like to make our failures an excuse for them.
Success (both at school and in real life) should be based on the pure merits of an individual, not on race.
Well, the “real life” expectation is usually the norm, unless the government sticks it’s nose in.
NOV, 2003: “Standardized testing was recently scrutinized in a suit against the University of Michigan, whose undergraduate admissions process used a point system that awarded significant points for being a member of a minority group. In 1997 two applicants sought to overturn Michigan’s system after being rejected despite having higher ACT scores than some minority students who were accepted. Last summer the Supreme Court ruled that although diversity was a legitimate goal, the point system was not an acceptable means of achieving it.”

FEB 1, 2004: On its 150-point “selection index,” the college awarded a gigantic, 20-point bonus for being black, Hispanic, or Native American. This dwarfed the 4-point legacy preference and the 12-point boost for having a perfect 1,600 SAT score.
