EDMONTON—A video captured at a convenience store in Spruce Grove, Alta., has catapulted the city to internet fame — but not for reasons you’d expect.
Last week, police apprehended two suspects who allegedly tried to use a stolen credit card at a local convenience store. The video — captured on the Reddi Mart convenience store CCTV camera and obtained by CTV Edmonton — shows the suspects darting around police and running into the back of the store to try to find an escape.
After briefly pondering throwing what appears to be a bag of snacks at an officer, the male suspect is eventually subdued, when the video cuts to the female suspect.
What happens next was described in a statement by the Spruce Grove RCMP detachment — and has since become the butt of several internet video jokes.
“The female suspect climbed a ladder in the back room into the ceiling panels to try and evade police,” said the statement. As other RCMP members arrived on scene, the female suspect fell through the ceiling, landing on some shelving in the store.”
No one was significantly injured during the arrest, police noted.
