The Conservative Party banned The Rebel from their convention in Halifax, but of course, we’re here anyway!
The big story, of course, is Maxime Bernier’s resignation from the party, reportedly to start his own.
Tonight I’ll explain why I think this was a bad decision, not just for the Conservatives, but for the country — especially with a federal election looming next year.
But there was another big story, at least according to the Media Party — that’s right, it was about us!
Believe it or not, today the Globe & Mail reported on this earthshaking scandal:
That Hamish Marshall (who helped me start The Rebel Media in 2015, and now works for Andrew Scheer) said hello to Sheila Gunn Reid! Twice!
I’m not joking. The Globe & Mail is Canada’s national newspaper of record, and they called this a “top story.”
As funny and ridiculous as this “story” is, it indicates a serious problem — and not just with the Media Party’s bias and weird priorities.
The Conservatives themselves are indulging in some bizarre “spin” too: I’ll tell you what they said about The Rebel after this “news” went viral, and it doesn’t give me much confidence in the party’s ability to fight to win.
If they think they have to go into damage control after casually greeting former conservative colleagues in public, do you really think they have what it takes to go up against Trudeau and the Liberals?
Except Andrew Scheer’s worst enemy in the 2019 election will not be Justin Trudeau, possibly the laziest man in Canadian politics, whose schtick — the dancing, the selfies, the costumes – is wearing thin on Canadians.
Justin Trudeau is not Scheer’s opponent.
The Media Party is…
NEXT: Sheila Gunn Reid is with me here in Halifax, and we’ve got her interviews with two convention delegates and grassroots conservatives, Clinton P. Desveaux and Prem Singh. They discuss the divide that sometimes exists between ordinary members and the party establishment.
We’ll have more coverage of the convention to come over the weekend.

I’m not voting for panty-waist Scheer. He just agreed to increase immigration beyond what is going on now.
Plus, he’s weak.
IMO there will never be and should never be a NDP PM. If you think we’re screwed now an NDP federal government would be the final nail in the coffin.
If Marge Simpson had a beard…

No !!! Neither that raghead nor Turdo 2 deserve an attempt to run Canada as neither of these goofs are even qualified and I’ll guarantee that neither has Canada’s best interests at heart. The NDP have been floundering in the surf since Jack Layton was forced to give up leadership due to health concerns which he died from, and from then on the NDP has been nothing but a crutch either to help the Liberals gain power or retain their death grip on Canada either provincially or now federally. The airhead Turdo 2 has already shown his complete disregard for Canada as a country, and his legal pot agenda is nothing but a tool to keep voter apathy at it’s present level or increase it, thus ushering in another Liberal win in the next election.
Maxime Bernier quit the Conservatives because too many members are already corrupted by the Liberal thinking and in Bernier’s own words, the Conservative intelligence is so far gone that it is impossible to rebuild the present Conservative party to make any real difference to Canada. Yes, it was not a good time to quit and start another party, but had Scheer used his head, he could have used Bernier’s talents within the present party and we wouldn’t have this mess so soon before an election. But in Bernier’s defence, I ask, when would have been the proper time to quit? We already know that Scheer doesn’t stand any chance of winning over Turdo 2 with or without Bernier in the party. This very act that seen Bernier quit just shows the weak leadership qualities of Scheer.
I have been voting for 43 years and I have never seen a party leader’s name on a ballot.
I don’t vote for prime minister. I vote for Member of Parliament.
Notice what just happened in Australia. Old prime minister out. New prime minister in. Without an election. Everybody’s MP stays the same.
There’s no reason why the same thing couldn’t happen in Canada at any time.
That’s why I never vote for prime minister. I vote for Member of Parliament.
LOL
That’s sad Jack
Don’t make the same mistake these morons who voted for Nutley did here
We are paying big time for that cluster fvck and will still be paying when the old horse face is gone after the next election
Scheer is weak and should not have been chosen as leader to the PC’s
Poilviere or Bernier would have been my choice
But it is done and we all have to make a choice
Canada can not afford another 4 yrs of the clown prince and his diverse band of idiots
Jaghisownmeat is a radical Paki Muslim and would only try to further their agenda
Plus we know what the NDP are all about
Not much to choose from but pick the lesser of 3 evils and hope for the best
Sad but true
No confusion on my part Jaghisownmeat is a turbine wearing Paki
But still a devoted Muslim terrorist aka Air India bombing flight 182
They are of the same mind be it head choppers or head wrappers
