Even though the first four weeks of the NFL season has seen fewer kneelers and protests during the national anthem, the league continues to be plagued by controversy.
Just as the NFL continues to have trouble extricating itself from its self-created mess over the mishandling of the disrespect to the flag and military that was undertaken by Colin Kaepernick his disciples, it continues to alienate fans who rightly or wrongly, have come to perceive the league as promoting anti-American sentiment.
The latest indignity?
Before Sunday’s game at Lambeau Field between the hometown Green Bay Packers and underdog Buffalo Bills, a huge, strange variation of the American flag was unveiled during the pregame ceremonies.
The enormous banner was still red, white and blue but was missing nearly half the stars.
