Who cares what Celine Dion thinks of the world, right? She’s really good at singing, in that earnest style. Why not judge her on that alone? No need to get political.
Well, she got into product lines, like many celebs. First a line of perfumes, and now children’s clothing. After all, she has a few kids of her own.
What’s weird is that Celine Dion’s clothing for kids is gender-neutral.
These clothes are as ugly as you’d think. For one thing, they have lots of skulls. That’s not normal, either. Children are a fountain of life; they are vivacious, lively, inspiring, energetic, growing. It’s gross and unnatural to have children and dead men’s skulls together.
I think she was trying to be funny, but you can’t miss the sheer creepiness of her saying that “our children are not ours.” In the video, she’s sneaking into a hospital nursery, and de-gendering children. Taking them out of their pretty kids clothes and putting them in her weird black and white trans clothes.
I think her clothing line will fail — it feels like a political stunt, a trans activism gimmick.
This is bad. I think Celine Dion is a bit screwed up — her life, while glamorous, has always been lived in a gilded cage. Her manager as a child, 26 years older than her, became her husband. She surely hasn’t had a moment of real life she since was a child herself.
Her own experience of having children was antiseptic and de-humanized; I’m not condemning in-vitro fertilization; but you must agree with me that her comments about keeping kids in the freezer till she wants them is odd.
I still like the sound of her voice, and I’m sure her concerts are great. But someone needs to get her off of this bizarre project she’s on. She doesn’t need the money.
So what exactly is she doing it for, and at whose advice?
And with Rene gone — is there anyone around her to tell her to stop?
