“Today, almost three years after the original trial was scheduled, Nathan Gervais is back before the court and the Crown anticipates after hearing all of the evidence, the court will be able to find, beyond a reasonable doubt, that Nathan Gervais is guilty of first degree murder.”
The trial is set to last two weeks.
Meanwhile, two men charged last week with assisting Gervais’ flight from justice made brief first-court appearances in provincial court.
Sean Airey and Marshall Quillian both face multiple charges including being accessories after the fact to murder.
Both men, who remain in custody, are prohibited from being in contact with each other, or Gervais.
Still bugs me that our thug huggin’ nation no longer has the death penalty for first degree murder cases. Why should we, the taxpayers, have to pay to house, feed, protect and attend to all the medical needs for the rest of their lives, of any pos who, with cold blooded premeditation, snuffed out the life of another human being? It defies logic, common sense – and morality.
Apparently under Canadian law this dipshit lost his right to a jury trial when he fled the country so now he has no choice but to be tried by judge alone.
