As the country woke up to the heartbreaking news that an 11-year-old girl had been murdered — allegedly at the hands of her father — the Amber Alert system came into the spotlight.

Cops in Peel say their switchboard received phone calls after the alert was issued around 11:30 p.m. Thursday.

But it wasn’t the welfare of Brampton girl Riya Rajkumar the callers were concerned about.

It was their sleep.
