Authorities in Sweden have charged a failed asylum seeker with raping and buying sex from a teenage disabled girl.
The suspect, a Kosovo national who had been issued deportation orders after his asylum application had been denied, is accused of forcing a 15-year-old handicapped girl to have sex with him after giving her 200 Swedish Krona (18 euros) and cigarettes.
According to Prosecutor Alexandra Östberg Giraldo, the two had first got in touch with one another on the internet. After convincing the girl to meet up with him, the perpetrator is suspected of using violence to coerce the young girl into having sex with him on two separate occasions last fall in the city of Trollhättan, Nyheter Idag reports.
The suspect “improperly took advantage of the girl because of her disability and that the abuse took place in the evening in a forest when the girl found herself in a particularly vulnerable situation,” the indictment reads.
While being interrogating by the authorities, the suspect denied having committed any crime, claiming that he was unaware of the girl’s age and that the rape was consensual.
Prosecutor Alexandra Östberg Giraldo has urged the court to deport the suspect and ban him from returning to Sweden for at least ten year.
