Acting Staff Sgt. Scott Guterson of the homicide unit confirmed the owner’s narrative at a news conference on Tuesday, telling media that police believe the man “lured the woman to the residence” under the pretense of viewing the property.
Guterson said the woman acted in self-defence, and as a result isn’t charged with an offence. An autopsy confirmed the man’s name was Shahbaz Ahmed, who was 48 years old.
Police said the man’s death has been classified as a non-culpable homicide.
