ARMED police have conducted mass evacuations at Trump Tower in Vancouver, leaving many eyewitnesses shaken – but the reason for the police action remains unknown.
Eyewitness Samantha Mack posted video on Twitter that showed police cars converging on the 63-storey building, which is in the city’s downtown area.
There were reports that as many as 1000 people were evacuated from the building, but this has not been confirmed.
Vancouver Police and the building management have yet to comment.
In subsequent tweets, Mack said she counted 16 police cars, both marked and unmarked, attending the scene.
“Small groups of people running from the scene, mostly scared groups of girls,” she wrote.
“They told me, armed officers with ‘long guns’ rushed in to the party and told everyone to leave. They told everyone to get out of the pool, but some people disregarded the police and kept jumping in, until the police used ‘forceful language.’
