‘Multiple shooting victims’ in St. Catharines: police

Niagara Regional Police are responding to a daylight shooting involving “multiple” victims.

Const. Phil Gavin said officers were called to the area of Church Street and Niagara Street around 3:34 p.m. for reports of a shooting.

“We arrived on scene to find multiple shootings victims,” he tweeted. “We will release their medical conditions when we have more details.”

The patients were transported to area hospitals by Niagara EMS.

3. Our Emergency Task Unit, K9, uniform patrol, 1 District Detectives and Emergency Services Officer’s are all activated and onscene

“This is not an active shooter situation,” he said, but added, “We are actively searching for armed suspects.”

Police are holding “multiple scenes” on Queenston, Geneva and Niagara Streets area, said Gavin, and are asking members of the public to avoid the area while they investigate.

The service’s Emergency Task Unit and K9 unit are on scene, along with uniformed officers, detectives and Emergency Services Officers.

Police say a suspect description should be provided shortly.
